Strand Book Store can save your library money. Besides being the largest second-hand and rare bookseller in America, Strand deals extensively in reviewer's copies of newly published books. These are the same books that your library is presently purchasing. Strand can supply these at half off the publisher's price, postage paid. We receive thousands of reviewer's copies each week, often as early as six weeks before publication. Books arrive in all subject areas including children's, popular trade, and a full range of academic titles.

Ordering:

Online: Ordering online is easy. Find the books you're looking for using our search tools or by browsing the sections, place the books in your cart, whether they are in stock or not and place your order. When you reach the payment screen, enter your purchase order number and send it off. This functions just the same as our blanket orders, use the "Order Comments" field at checkout to let us know how long to hold your order (60 or 90 days).

Blanket orders: You send us a "blanket" order for any new books. We immediately fill and ship what we can, holding the remaining list for 30 or 60 days (please indicate your preference at time of order in the "Order Comments" field on the checkout screen). Remaining titles are sent as we receive new shipments. The books are billed at 50% off the published price, including postage. At the end of the thirty-day period we return the unfilled portion of the list to the library. For most libraries that purchase on our blanket order plan we are able to fill 80% of their needs at half price.

Rush orders: For the library in a hurry, we can do one pick and ship immediately, canceling the rest of the order.

On Approval: Strand will ship reviewer's copies on approval to university and public libraries. We can provide a wide range of subjects, including academic, trade, and children's books and will tailor our selection to your specifications. We select one copy of each new book in any category you specify. Most are shipped around publication date, but none are older than 90 days.

The books will be shipped with an invoice, you may keep what you wish, returning the unwanted items along with a copy of the bill indicating returns.
