Featuring panelists Lori Adelman, Helen Holmes, Alice Sola Kim, Collier Meyerson, Gabriella Paiella, Larissa Pham, and Niina Pollari, and moderated by the Bad Advice founder Charlotte Shane! Join these badass women as they talk about their work and give some lovely little bits of life advice.
Lori Adelman is a writer and advocate focusing on race, gender, and reproductive health. She is currently the Director of Global Communications at Planned Parenthood and Executive Director of Feministing.com.
Helen Holmes is a contributing writer for Death & Taxes Magazine. Her work has appeared in W Magazine, The FADER, Artnews, Jezebel, Gawker, The Awl, The Towner, and Adult Mag.
Alice Sola Kim is a winner of the 2016 Whiting Award. Her writing has appeared or is forthcoming in places such as Tin House, McSweeney's Literary Quarterly, BuzzFeed Books, and The Year's Best Science Fiction and Fantasy. She has also received grants and scholarships from the MacDowell Colony, Bread Loaf Writers' Conference and the Elizabeth George Foundation.
Collier Meyerson is a fellow at the Nation Institute, where she focuses on reporting about race and politics, and an investigative fellow at Reveal. She received an Emmy for her work on the MSNBC’s All In with Chris Hayes and won the National Association of Black Journalists’ 2016 award for commentary. Her work has appeared in the New York Magazine, New Yorker, Glamour Magazine, and Jezebel among others. Collier lives in Brooklyn.
Gabriella Paiella is a writer for The Cut at New York Magazine, and a columnist for Lucky Peach.
Larissa Pham is an artist and writer in Brooklyn. Her work has appeared in The Nation, Adult Mag, Dazed, and elsewhere. She is the author of FANTASIAN, a novella from Badlands Unlimited.
Niina Pollari's poetry collection Dead Horse came out from Birds, LLC and Emily Books in 2015. Her most recent release is Total Mood Killer (TigerBee Press), a poetry chapbook with merritt k. She is currently working on a novel.
Charlotte Shane is an essayist, memoirist, and co-founder of TigerBee Press. The Guardian likened her written work to Charles Dickens, and Vice called her book Prostitute Laundry "addictive [and] intimate." Just like an opium den.
