Christoph Niemann In Conversation With Francoise Mouly: Join these two innovative comic artists while they discuss their new books, their art, and the power of humor.
Christoph Niemann’s work has appeared on the cover of The New Yorker, Atlantic Monthly and The New York Times. Since 2008, Niemann has been writing and illustrating the playful and inventive “Abstract City,” a New York Times blog. It was renamed in 2011, "Abstract Sunday,” when it became a weekly addition to The New York Times Magazine. His most recent book is Abstract City. He has also written I LEGO N.Y. and That’s How.
Franciose Mouly founded the small publishing house, RAW Books & Graphics. She then launched RAW, a large format beautifully printed magazine filled with comics, graphics and illustrated text, which she designed and co-edited with Art Speigelman. In 1993, Mouly became the art editor at The New Yorker, and is responsible for the most controversial and memorable covers in recent years. Her books include Covering The New Yorker: Cutting Edge Covers from a Literary Institution and most recently, Blown Covers: The New Yorker Covers You Were Never Meant to See.
