Cantaloupe Café Presents: David Lang + Shelter"
April 22: 7:30PM – 8:30PM
Join us for an evening of music and conversation with one of today’s most dynamic composers, as he discusses his newly released CD, Shelter—a collaboration between three of the most innovative composers of our time: Michael Gordon, Julia Wolfe and David Lang. This casual, relaxed evening will be the first in a series of concerts and conversations hosted by Cantaloupe Music and the founders of the Bang on a Can collective.
Lang will be joined by the three solo vocalists from Shelter, who will perform the choral piece "I Want to Live." Described by WQXR as “utterly unaffected and drop-dead stylish," Martha Cluver, Mellissa Hughes, and Caroline Shaw (known together as Va Vocals) have been performing as a group since 2009, and are versed in styles ranging from baroque to modern to pop.
Pay a $20 entrance fee, which includes a CD, to attend this event. The fee admits one person. Please note that payment is required for all online event orders at the time of checkout. The event will be located in the Strand's 3rd floor Rare Book Room at our store at 828 Broadway at 12th Street.
