Joyce Carol Oates + Isaac Fitzgerald
February 19: 7:00PM – 8:00PM
Joyce Carol Oates has been hailed as "one of the great artistic forces of our time," and her prolific literary output has been a major contribution to contemporary literature. She visits Strand in celebration of the release of her latest novel. Carthage examines the effects of a young girl's dissapearance on a small town, and the lingering shadows of the violence of war on daily life in America. A frightening and gorgeously imagined story of youthful loneliness and familial disintegration, Carthage is the latest work from one of American's greatest living writers.
Joining Joyce for the evening is Buzzfeed Books editor Isaac Fitzgerald. Isaac has been a firefighter, worked on a boat, and been given a sword by a king, thereby accomplishing three out of five of his childhood goals. He is also co-founder of Pen & Ink and co-owner of The Rumpus.
