NEVERTHELESS, SHE PERSISTED: FEMINISM AND PLEASURE IN TRUMP'S AMERICA

Thursday May 4: 7:00PM 8:00PM

Women are already leading the anti-Trump charge, from the Women's March to the senate women (republican and democrat) opposing Trump's nominees to the mostly female judges halting his immigration order to the fashion industry supporting Planned Parenthood. We need to oppose Trump's multi-level encroachments on human rights here and abroad. But we also need to counter his America First narrative with one of our own -- one that says all human beings are entitled to happiness.

So what does that look like, especially for women in a Trump era, when many of his assaults are laid on our bodies, when we are so thoroughly shut out of the halls of executive power, and when the future just looks so bleak? What are the perils of putting the bulk of the work of the resistance on the backs of women -- who already shoulder so much more unpaid, unrecognized labor, and struggle to meet so many demands on our time, our emotions, our love, and our attention? What does pursuing feminist happiness mean in such dark, reactionary, anti-feminist times?

That's what we need to figure out and what this panel is all about.
