The Atlantic Theater Company & Strand Book Store Present: Writer, Director and Actor Discuss Their New Production What Rhymes with America

Award winning playwright Melissa James Gibson discusses the production of her new poignant, funny play What Rhymes With America, with it’s director Daniel Aukin and one of its lead actors Chris Bauer.
Melissa James Gibson’s recent plays include This, [sic], and Suitcase or, Those That Resemble Files From A Distance. Her work has been produced at Playwrights Horizon, La Jolla Playhouse, Steppenwolf, Sundance Theater Institute Theatre Lab and many others. Current commissions include The Atlantic Theater Company, Second Stage Theatre and Manhattan Theater Club.
Daniel Aukin has directed, among other productions, Bad Jews at the Roundabout Underground, Sam Shepard’s Heartless at the Signature and 400 Miles at Lincoln Center’s Mitzi Newhouse.
Chris Bauer has appeared in numerous films and television dramas including a recurring role on HBO’s True Blood as Sheriff Andy Bellefleur and on The Wire as the union boss Frank Sobotka. He made his Broadway debut in A Street Car Named Desire for which he was nominated for an Outer Critics Circle Award.
