The Paris Review & The Strand Bookstore Kick-Off Their Monthly Literary Salon
June 13: 7:00PM – 8:30PM
Two literary lions hook up for a fabulous event series on the second Wednesday of every month in the Rare Book Room at the Strand. We’ve long been seen as the mother of indie bookstores, they’ve long been seen as the most famous of literary journals. We’ve got age, we’ve got clout, and together we’ll create an enviable literary salon downtown. Join us for readings from The Paris Review Archives by actor/playwright Wallace Shawn and actress Martha Plimpton. Shawn is both a playwright and an actor. He is best known for his film roles in My Dinner with Andre, The Princess Bride, and Clueless. He is the author of many plays including Marie & Bruce, Aunt Dan and Lemon and more recently, The Designated Mourner. Martha Plimpton has done numerous television, film and stage roles. She’s appeared in films such as Running on Empty, Parenthood, Small Town Murder Songs and most recently on Broadway in Pal Joey. Plimpton will read from the Dorothy Parker interview. Wine will be served.
