Product Description

8vo. 1st edition. Cover, d.j. and typography by PAUL RAND. Tight binding. Darkened hinges, with a bit of toning to leaves. Bump to top of front d.j. joint causing chipping and creasing. Chip to top of rear d.j. panel with a small tear. Mild tanning to d.j. spine and extremities with light rubbing to edges. VG/VG. From prohibition hotspot with mob connections to sophisticated haunt of New York’s glitterati, the Stork Club was a prominent fixture in New York society from 1929 until 1965. In print, the glamorous goings-on at the club were closely documented by the “orchidaceous oracle of cafe society” Lucius Beebe, in his syndicated column, This New York. Beebe provides the text for The Stork Club Bar Book, a witty, gossip-laced cocktail recipe guide, and a silver-tongued rumination on what makes the perfect drink. (For medicinal purposes only, of course.) This is the first edition, with typography, pictorial boards and matching dust jacket designed by Paul Rand.
