The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss

The Name of the Wind

by Patrick Rothfuss

"I was first given The Name of the Wind by my mom because she randomly saw it in a bookstore and thought I might like it. Put one more in the win column for mom! I have read this book at least five times and it still gives me goose bumps on certain passage. It’s hard to put into words how much I love this book. I quite literally recommend this book to everyone I know and meet. Patrick Rothfuss is a master, plain and simple. He creates a world that is all at once brand new yet familiar. The descriptions are beautiful and stunning with characters that are very real.

Without giving too much away I will give a little overview. The book centers on the life story of Kvothe. He is a legend in this world, someone that people everywhere tell grand tales of magic and adventure about. Kvothe is discovered by a man who wants to get the true account of his life. So the way Rothfuss writes the book is that you are getting a story within a story, where the view switches back and forth from present to past. Mr. Rothfuss loves his wheels within wheels. The whole book is an example of how events become stories that become mythic legends. The book is an epic fantasy that is destined to be around for a long time. Read this book! I’ve never had anyone tell me that they regret it."
