Testimonials

I have worked with Jenny McKibben on numerous projects for my personal library collection. The Strand Team has consistently impressed me with their level of professionalism, speed, attention to detail and general book knowledge.

As someone with literary tastes that range across a wide field of genres, I can always count on the Strand to have the specific titles and authors I hope to add to my collection and Jenny always surprises me with a few selections that truly pique my interest. I heartily recommend the Strand’s services for anyone hoping to assemble an outstanding collection of books.”

When my husband and I built our house at the beach we dreamed of having a very special, individually curated lending library. I asked all my friends who love to read to submit a list of their favorite books—fiction, nonfiction, whatever struck their fancy. Jenny and I added to that list the Strand 80 and winners of the Man Booker Prize to create, what I believe, is the perfect beach house, country getaway, nose in a book all weekend long kind of collection.”

I asked her if she could recommend any books for my own personal collection, to which I’ve been meaning to add more titles on history and fashion (two of my favorite subjects). And though she’s in New York City (a place my heart will always remain) and I’m in Columbus, OH (a place my body seems destined to remain) she actually took the time to carefully select a shelf-full of titles on both of these topics. And she took pictures! This, folks, is the kind of patience and passion that’s lacking in most stores today.”

Yesterday we received our book order for the library. We worked with Strand Book Store in NYC and they came up with a fantastic selection of books related to Maxwell Perkins his writers, his times and Vermont history. Before we ordered she sent a picture of the selection of books and a detail of each one. Pretty cool way to start a library and just love the custom feel of the whole experience.”

Working with Jenny to curate custom libraries for our clients is an absolute pleasure. Her execution is fast, flawless and tailored specifically to our clients’ needs. Whether we’re working on a comprehensive color-coordinated library for a farmhouse in CT, or pulling a few books to spruce up a nursery, we know we can count on Jenny and The Strand to come up with something fabulous.”

As my library grew, it slowly became monotonous, dominated by recent best sellers and current affairs. I needed help transforming it back to the intellectual resource that it once was. The Strand staff did a wonderful job adding fiction and non-fiction titles across many different time periods and subjects, bringing back depth, richness and well roundedness to my book collection.”

My name is Jim Aichelman, and I am a pharmacist who is working on a Master's in English Literature. I like to supplement my coursework with reading additional ‘classics’, and I like to buy those classics through Everyman's Library, which is a vanity of mine, but one I hope people can excuse. At any rate, Everyman's Library currently publishes 3 books by Franz Kafka: ‘The Trial’, ‘The Castle’, and a collection of his short stories. I had purchased my copy of ‘The Trial’ a few years ago, and I was ready to read some more Kafka, so I went to purchase the other two editions for myself. I found out that they were being printed with a different color binding now. Horror of horrors for the color scheme of my library! I contacted Jenny at the Strand to see if I could find the two books in their old color to match the one I already own, and, to my shock and delight, two weeks later I got an email asking me if I wanted to purchase the two books I wanted, as she had found them if perfect condition, at a price less than I probably should have paid for them. I don’t remember the last time I experienced service like that.”
