Trzyna (literature, comparative religion, and philosophy; Seattle Pacific U.) departs from previous critical studies of contemporary Nobel laureate Francophone novelist Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clézio by focusing specifically on the religious and philosophical citations in his work. He discovers a sustained effort across his body of work to develop a coherent set of spiritual and ethical views that draws on the traditions of many cultures, including traditions that are not often consulted by contemporary thinkers, such as Sufism, pre-Socratic Greek philosopher Parmenides, and Meso-American religion.
