Product Description

4to. 1st edition. INSCRIBED by the photographer and SIGNED by the author of the introduction. Slight lean to spine. Minor scratching to boards. Light bumping and minor chipping to top edge of d.j. Minor tanning to flaps. VG/VG... The idea for this haunting tour through the backrooms of Versailles was first conceived by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, who commissioned fashion photographer Deborah Turbeville in 1979 to capture the rich and buried history of the palace using her mysterious style and bizarre (what’s so bizarre about her technique?) technique . The muted and blurred images seem to disintegrate concurrently with the vast chateau - the ghostly models appear to have been wandering lost among the scattered pieces draped furniture since the reign of Louis XVI. With text by novelist Louis Auchincloss, this first edition is signed by Auchincloss and inscribed by Turbeville.
