Share the Love Short Story Contest

Share the Love Short Story Contest

We asked contestants to submit a short (under 2,000 words) love story, featuring the Strand, for a chance to win a $250 Strand Shopping Spree.

This contest has concluded.

Thanks to all the writers who submitted over 75 short stories. Here are the Winners!

Grand Prize: $250 Shopping Spree plus Strand Love Tote

Winner Robert B. Wyatt

"Strands"

Robert B. Wyatt is a New York book publishing veteran, as editor-in-chief or editorial director at Avon Books, Delacorte Books for Young Readers, and Ballantine Books. For several years he maintained an imprint, A Wyatt Book for St. Martin's Press. He is also the author of two novels, JAM & THE BOX and THE FLUFFYS & THE BOX. The former is about a Hudson Valley bookseller, and the second is a shorter version of his story, as told by two cats. "Strands" is the only short story Wyatt has written.

Robert has chosen to donate his $250 Strand Shopping Spree to children at a local primary school.

Second Prize: Strand Love Tote packed with books and more

Winner Clare Moore

"How Do I Love Thee"

Clare is a 19 year-old freshman at The King's College in New York City. She has been shopping at the Strand since she moved to New York and it is her favorite place in the city. Clare’s favorite authors include J.R.R. Tolkien, John Steinbeck, and Marcus Zusak.

Third Prize: $50 Strand Gift Card plus Strand Love Tote

Winner Marsha Hinds

"Virtual Banality"

Marsha is a 47 year old published novelist who lives in Brooklyn. Her interests are ‘eccentric, eclectic and catholic in nature’ and much of her inspiration for the 28 short stories she submitted to the Share the Love Contest came from the many books she has read—most of which she purchased at the Strand
