Store Pick-Up Orders

Can I place an order online for store pick-up?

Absolutely! The in-store pick-up option can be found on the right-hand side of the first checkout step (Addresses). Email address, first name, last name, and a telephone number are required for this option. Please allow 1-2 business days for processing time. You will receive a pick-up notification email once your order is available for pick up. Store pick-up orders are only available for pick-up at our main store location (828 Broadway @ 12th Street).

Can I pay online for my store pick-up order?

Yes and we recommend this option. All major credit cards, PayPal, and Strand gift cards are accepted at the Payment step once you’ve selected the store pick-up option. Please allow 1-2 business days for processing time. You will receive a pick-up notification email once your order is available for pick up. All paid pick-up orders will be held for seven (7) days at our main floor registers from the time the notification email is sent. Please note that orders not picked up within seven (7) days will be cancelled and refunded back to the original payment method.

Can I reserve books online and then pay at the store when I pick them up?

Yes, we also offer the option to reserve books online and pay for them in-store. In-store purchases can be made using cash, all major credit cards, and/or Strand gift cards. Please select the store pick-up option in the Addresses step of checkout. At the Payment step, there is a pay when you pick up option available. Please allow 1-2 business days for processing time. You will receive a pick-up notification email once your order is available for pick up. All unpaid pick-up orders will be held for three (3) days at our Basement Information Desk from the time the notification email is sent. Please note that orders not picked up within three (3) days will be cancelled and sent back to stock for general sale.

Why is the pay when you pick up option not available for my order?

Based on the type of item you’re ordering and/or its current location, certain items require payment at the time of checkout; therefore, the pay when you pick up option may not be available for your order. Please note that items marked as Ships Directly from Warehouse, event ticket options, and all of our subscription services require payment at the time of checkout.

Can I order items from your warehouse for store pick-up?

You sure can! Items with the location Ships Directly from Warehouse can be ordered online for store pick-up. However, please note that all warehouse items require payment at the time of checkout. Additionally, because these items are being sent from our warehouse, please allow additional shipping and processing time. Warehouse items are generally available for pick-up 3-5 business days after we’ve received your order. You will receive a pick-up notification email once your order is available for pick-up.

Do you charge any additional fees to have your items shipped from the warehouse?

Nope! However, before we take the time and effort to pack, ship, and process your order, please note that all warehouse items will require payment at the time of checkout.
