The New Yorker Contest
Submit your representation of The New Yorker's iconic dandy, Eustace Tilley, for a chance to have your image on a Strand Tote Bag and a $1,000 Strand shopping spree.
In an annual tradition for The New Yorker, they held their fourth contest soliciting readers’ takes on Eustace Tilley, the magazine’s mascot. Tilley, the Regency dandy, is the creation of art editor Rea Irvin and has been on the cover of almost every anniversary issue—including this year’s—since his first appearance, on the début issue, in 1925.
Winners Chosen!
The New Yorker chose twelve winners from among more than six hundred entries. A Grand Prize winner, whose image will be made into a Strand Book Store tote bag, will be announced in the Spring, when the bag is ready. Here is a portfolio of the twelve winning entries. You can also browse a gallery of all the 2011 entries, and of winners from 2010, 2009, and 2008.
