If you were to conjure up the perfect father, chances are the end result would not look like Neal Pollack. As a fringe literary genius, self-proclaimed party animal and pop-culture devotee, it wouldn't appear that he would have time for children. Indeed, when his son was born, he celebrated by forming a band and taking it on tour. Yet Pollack and his wife, Regina, were hell-bent on bringing up their son, Elijah, without growing up too much themselves. And from a biting incident in preschool to a wacky corporate gymnastics class, Elijah keeps them on their toes. "Alternadad" is a heart-felt and refreshing look at parenting that proves you don't have to be the Cleavers to raise a good kid.
