Dada

This volume is a comprehensive assessment, from today's point of view, of one of the most revolutionary 20th-century movements in the arts. The sections are organized chronologically and around the geographic locations of major dada activities, from the inception of Dada in Zurich to New York, Barcelona, Berlin, Hanover and Holland, Cologne, Paris, Central and Eastern Europe and Japan. A final section is devoted to a discussion of Neo-Dada. The Documents section is conceived as a short anthology of dada writing. Most of the dada artists were also poets, and many of them were in fact among the first intermedia artists, for whom performances and visual as well as verbal works were central.
