Decision Support Systems

This book presents the state-of-the-art information on decision support systems (DSS). Over the last forty years, DSS have developed from theoretical concepts into the real world computerized applications and they motivate cognitive decision-making functions of humans based on artificial intelligence techniques for the purpose of performing decision support functions. DSS consists of three primary components: user interface, computerized model and knowledge base. The applications of DSS encompass several domains, ranging athwart transportation security, weather forecast, aviation checking, clinical diagnosis and business management to internet search techniques, therefore through the integration of knowledge bases with inference rules DSS are able to present suggestions to end users to enhance results and decisions.
