Deep Night

The sequel to "The Fat Man's Daughter" finds Leah Kolbe once again far away from the Hong Kong of her youth. Engaged to a successful young colonial and very much in love, her world is shocked to the core when the Japanese invade the tiny, British-controlled island. Life in Macau is a desperate affair for a penniless refugee with a fiance languishing in a Japanese prison, but the underground movement to sabotage the occupiers has a job for her. "Deep Night" is a dark tale of seduction, intrigue and betrayal, in which both sides are certain of their convictions about the world around them, but frightened of the changes inevitably wrought by the war.
