At seventy-one, Hester Parker's life has fallen apart, the result of a series of terrible losses and too much sub-par merlot. Her music students can still see the wit and charm she exudes; however, her bitterness of the loss of her career due to a wrist injury and the loss of her husband to another woman continue to consume her. When Hester rents the attic apartment of her home to a young college student named Alex, the month that follows changes both their lives forever.
