Escape

Carolyn Jessop was born into and raised in the the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (FLDS), a radical offshoot of the Mormon church. At the age of eighteen, Carolyn was forced into an arranged marriage with a man thirty-two years older than herself and with three other wives. Giving birth to eight children over the next fifteen years and having her life controlled by her dictator husband, Carolyn knew that she must escape her suffocating existence. What followed was one of the most remarkable events in the history of FLDS, an event that saw Carolyn AND her eight children leave the confines of her community.
