Anne Bogel: Don't Overthink It

Friday March 6: 7:00PM 8:00PM

Event Admission          Signed Copy, No Admission

Doors open 30 minutes before the start of the event.

In each episode of What Should I Read Next, Anne asks a reader to tell her three books they love, one book they don’t, and what they’re reading now. Anne then recommends three books they should read next.

The magic of the show isn’t just in the literary matchmaking (although that part is pretty great). The real magic arises from the transformative conversations spurred by books and reading, and the connections that form amongst people who love them. Anne firmly believes that when you improve your reading life, you improve your life, and that belief is proven in each episode as guests laugh and cry, share literary highs and lows, the books that changed their lives and the books they hurled across the room. Every episode is different, but one thing never changes: this show makes you want to read, and to spend more time with your fellow readers.

The topic for this live episode is “don’t overthink your reading life.” Anne will discuss her new book Don’t Overthink It, which she wrote thanks to conversations with hundreds of readers. And because reading books and conversing with readers is literally her job, she can’t help but apply those insights (and there are many of them) to the reading life. She’ll do some live literary matchmaking, hand-picking books for the guests in attendance. She’ll troubleshoot guests’ literary dilemmas. She’ll share her best advice for cultivating a satisfying reading life, and she’s certain to discuss the books she currently loves and the ones she can’t wait to read next.

This event will feature the bookish magic and copious book recommendations readers of the show have come to love and depend on. And what better place to hold this evening of bookish enthusiasm than The Strand, with its eighteen miles of books?

Join us in the Rare Book Room for this one-of-a-kind literary event.
