Monday June 25: 7:00PM – 8:00PM
Buy a copy of Things That Make White People Uncomfortable or a $15 gift card in-store at the event to attend. This event will take place in the Rare Book Room, located on the 3rd floor of the Strand and accessible via the stairs or elevator next door at 826 Broadway.
Super Bowl Champion and a three-time Pro Bowl defensive end Michael Bennett is a fearless activist, feminist, philanthropist, and change maker. He also wants to make you uncomfortable.
Michael has decided to add his unmistakable and humorous voice to discussions of racism and police violence, Black athletes and their relationship to powerful institutions like the NCAA and the NFL, the role of protest in history, and the responsibilities of athletes as role models to speak out against injustice. Following in the footsteps of Muhammad Ali and Colin Kaepernick, Michael shows his leadership both on and off the field.
Join us as Michael discusses these important issues and shares his book. He will be joined in conversation by activist and author Kevin Powell!
