Steven Peterman: The Sketchbook Project
Wednesday May 23: 7:00PM – 8:00PM
Founded in 2006, Brooklyn Art Library is a creative platform that hosts interactive projects accessible to anyone. They're home of The Sketchbook Project - the largest collection of sketchbooks in the world. Housing over 40,000 sketchbooks on our shelves and over 20,000 in their digital library, they fuse the digital with the analog to create a one of a kind experience for all artists and visitors.
Steven Peterman, Founder and Director of The Sketchbook Project, will be speaking about how this project, now in its twelfth year, has grown from the idea that anyone can be an artist into a sustaining, global project with thousands of contributors. The event will feature a 30 minute talk and Q&A, a sketching session to get you started on your sketchbook, and a chance to peruse a curated selection of books brought from our library.
Join us to become a part of The Sketchbook Project and add your work to Brooklyn Art Library. Draw, paint, sketch, collage, photograph - it starts with an idea.
Admission Options: Buy a Sketchbook Project sketchbook through the Strand's website for 20% off its normal price or a $10 gift card to attend this event.
