This Brooklyn-Born, Haitian-American musician is truly a rarity. Public Speaking is the solo project of Brooklyn sound artist and songwriter Jason Anthony Harris. He uses voice, objects, and electronics, as well as traditional instrumentation to make soulful noise music. He balances adventurous methods with an intimate compositional aesthetic. Together with Ruben Sindo Acosta (Afuche, A Bunch of Dead People), Harris co-founded the independent new music label Floordoor Records.
Since 2012, Public Speaking has performed throughout the U.S., bringing his experimental and highly rhythmic music to clubs, art galleries, museums, homes, and community spaces. 2013 brought his debut LP on Fabrica Records, “Blanton Ravine.” Harris has made albums that merge vocal songs with abstract noise and polyrhythmic process pieces. He also makes instrumental music, including “Line & Weight”, a collection of ambient recordings on Already Dead Tapes, and “MOUNTAINMURALS”, a cassette of ambient-noise on Tape Drift Records. Along with dancer Kendra Isobel Samson, he performed the collaborative piece “Pounds” for live music and movement at New York’s historic Judson Church in 2013. The more song-oriented vocal album “Caress, Redact” (Floordoor Records) was released in 2016, an emotionally vulnerable work that Tiny Mix Tapes compared to Autre Ne Veut and How to Dress Well, and Brainwashed.com called “one of this year’s best records.“ The cassette collection “Enhanced Touch: Caress, Redact Remixes” followed, with contributions from electronic musicians Jeremy Bible, Ariadne, More Eaze, Heejin Jang, and more, with all proceeds bene?ting New Alternatives for Homeless LGBT Youth. 2017 saw the release of “Grace Upon Grace" (Floordoor/Already Dead), a concept album of sensual R&B and experimental pop about the appeal of the messianic political demagogue to a desperate, vulnerable populace.
Harris is currently writing, recording, and doing research for an album of songs about Judeo-Christian mythology, theocracy, the persecution of witchcraft, and the wilderness as a source of evil. He continues to perform frequently in New York and on national tours.

In the spring of 2012, 22-year-old Dan Kleederman took his sister up on an unconventional birthday gift - a phone call with a psychic.
Though skeptical at first, he was quickly stunned into silence. According to the healer, his grandmother who tragically died in a car accident before he was born and the clearest source of his musical gifts according to family, was encouraging him to follow his passion and inclination towards a life in music. The message was received.
Grand Kid is both an ode to the wise, beyond-the-years magic of intuition and understanding, and the unadorned vulnerability of youth. It’s an eclectic, soulful, alternative rock that manages to find a home as much in Radiohead as it does in Ry Cooder. Through the strength of his voice and the striking voice of his guitar, no matter how far out - or far in - the music goes, it always carries with it an authentic beauty and arresting intimacy.
Often supported by a high-flying trio, Grand Kid also performs solo accompanied by vintage drum machines, organs, and brass by way of cassette tapes. After releasing a live EP/video called “We’ll Be” by the end of 2018, Grand Kid plans on dropping a full album in 2019.
