Vulture Insiders Book Club Meeting with Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney

Thursday May 19: 7:30PM 8:30PM

Join the Vulture Insiders, Vulture’s most tuned-in pop-culture obsessives, Vulture books editor Boris Kachka, and acclaimed debut novelist Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney to discuss The Nest, her rollicking farce of familial friction. It’s the story of Melody, Jack, and Bea Plumb, three siblings waiting on the receipt of “the Nest,” the trust fund put in place by their father as a midlife safeguard that’s seen unexpected and enormous growth. For their various reasonings, the Plumbs have come to rely on the soon-to-be windfall, and with the various turns their lives have taken, it’s become the surefire cure-all to their problems. Don’t miss this opportunity to discuss with the author the season’s most hotly-tipped new novel that Entertainment Weekly compared to “really good dark chocolate: sharper and more bittersweet than the cheap stuff, but also too delicious not to finish in one sitting.”

Please RSVP to vultureinsiders@vulture.com. Feel free to buy a copy of The Nest, but purchase is not required. It’s more important to bring your questions, comments, and insights! The event will be located on the 2nd floor of Strand at 828 Broadway at 12th Street. If you can’t make the meeting, we’ll be broadcasting the event on Periscope. Download the Periscope app from the App Store or Google Play, follow Vulture, and tune in Wednesday, April 4 at 7:30 p.m.!
