Ghostwalk

In 2002, a Cambridge historian is found dead, floating down the river Cam with a glass prism in her hand; thus her magnum opus on Sir Issac Newton's alchemy is left unfinished. It is revealed that her investigation of a series of circumstances surrounding Newton's appointment as a Fellow of a nearby college (some 300 years ago) has turned up some interesting results. As an unexplained chain of deaths occured shortly after Newton's installment, the question is soon raised of coincidence vs. extraordinary scientific discovery. In her debut novel, Rebecca Stott manages to display scholarship and imagination with stunning originality which will leave the reader with just as many questions as answers.
