Ludlow

David Mason's previous works evoked a sepia-toned world nostaglia for the romance and personal conflicts of Americana. "Ludlow" takes a step away from his rich historical prose in a novel written in verse. Revisiting the tragic tale ofthe Ludlow coal field massacre of 1914 in which 20 victims were killed by the National Guard after a day-long conflict between strikers and the Guard. Telling the story of a handful of immigrants, either directly or indirectly involved,their collective struggles create a class conscious story that examines American identity following WWI. Fusing fiction, history, imagination and truth, "Ludlow" is a major contribution to the literature of the American West.
