On Ash

On Ash is a poetic journey reflecting upon a moment in life when love has all the power to give and all the power to destroy.

my dress, threadbare, clung
like a damp breeze against my heart and thighs.
sewn, wampum shells, drumbed
almost violent yet held tight against the storm.
my spirit, transcended, took upon itself
a new veracity it swelled within me and purged itself,
of me.
and embraced me and carried me
rescue.
