Folio. 460 x 320 mm. Bound volume containing 147 copperplate engravings in varying early states of the plates which would eventually be published in Marsigli's 1726 masterpiece, Danubius Pannonico-Mysicus, with manuscript title page dated 1712. Full-contemporary leather, worn and chipped. The plates are all early states of the the final engravings as published in 1726, with 3 astronomical plates that do not appear in the published work. None of the plates have volume or plate numbers, and many are missing the text that would have been engraved later. The ornithological plates included (56 plates) have titles provided in manuscript, in a hand closely approximating the printed titles in the finished work. Included are 12 engravings from Tome I (Astronomical, with 3 plates not included in the final work), 38 engravings from Tome II (Roman Antiquities), 32 engravings from Tome IV (Piscatorial), 56 engravings from Tome V (Ornithological), 9 engravings from Tome VI (Miscellaneous, but the anatomical plates included here). One ornithological plate (Ardea Cinerea Major) has a large tear from the top edge (about 10'). Soiling to various other plates, and light soiling in the margins of many plates, but primarily all plates are clean. Many plates have the margins extended (for unifomity within the binding). Ref (for the finished work): Brunet III, p. 1474. Anker 326. Nissen IVB 593. Wood, P. 452. VG.
