Joan Harrington is a successful architect and owns a thriving firm in New York City. Adam White is a talented trial lawyer who is driven to win at any cost. They are in love and are outwardly the ideal pair. In a perfect summer wedding, they declare their love and faithfulness to one another. It is the picture of happiness, Appearances, however, can be deceiving. Although Joan wants stability and a chance to start a family of her own, her seemingly loving husband feels intimidated and threatened by her success and does not share her interests. Instead, he is driven to do anything it takes to move up to the corporate world and attain what he desires the most - power and prestige. This takes him down a dark path.
