Staircases

This illustrated presentation of forty-nine staircases constructed over the past few years in eighteen countries begins with a historical overview of staircases from the ancient world to the 20th century, which is followed by themed chapters, each focusing on a different type: landscape stairs, glass stairs, staircases as main features, stairs as sculpture, technical tours de force, and minimalist staircases. Each of the projects in the book is illustrated with photographs and drawings and accompanied by commentary that explores design intentions, use of materials, mode of construction, and technical features.
