The Secret Scripture

Sebastian Barry, author of "The Whereabouts of Eneas McNulty", "Annie Dunne" and "A Long Long Way" brings us a touching novel in "The Secret Scripture". Roseanne McNulty decides to record the events of her life as she approaches her hundredth year. She hides her manuscript beneath her floorboards in her bedroom at the Roscommon Regional Mental Hospital. In doing research for her memoir, Roseanne learns that Roscommon Regional will soon close its doors and that her doctor, Dr. Grene, must decide whether she is fit to return to society. When Dr. Grene discovers a document from a local priest that tells a much different history than the one Roseanne is writing, the two learn to understand each other.
