Weeping Willow

Their story is our story. The historical footprint of every enslaved African American- our ancestors- is deeply rooted in American history. During the darkest times in our history, the enslaved man, woman, and child endured the brutal, seemingly endless, cruelty of slavery. From the slave block to the slave master- the horrors, unspeakable acts of violence documented, and countless accounts we will never know still pierce our souls today! We are intrinsically tied to the shackled feet, calloused hands, and tear-stained cheeks. We feel the generational winds that carry the chants and messages for freedom from the cotton fields. We feel the unrest of our ancestors, as they urge us to tell- yet the voices of modern-day displeasures dare to erase and forget. The signature of the enslaved individual is etched on every foundation, from the White House to the multi-room mansions of the south.

Inspired by God and faithfully penned by Apostle Linda Harvey in 2021, Weeping Willow is a tapestry of stories and creative poetry that provide narration from the trees who bore the shame and sorrow of every lynching. This book pauses to reflect, remember, and rejoice- honoring those who could not escape, but had enough hope to strengthen the next generation.
