Travel along the Texas-Mexico border in the 1850's with a somewhat-protagonist, somewhat-observer, known only as the "kid", as he teams up with a ruthless bunch of scalp hunters. McCarthy's language brings us right there in the middle of it all. His words soar. Few pages I read that did not force me to pause in awe.
